Welcome on this part of my web site dedicated to my own Sound Set for Mac OS 8.5 ! As a great fan of both Macintosh and Nintendo's plumber, I've been always looking for a way to personnalise the first using some elements of the second's universe. At the beginning, I just used to change icons directly within the Finder, but it was a bit tricky... Then came the time of the Kaleidoscope Color Scheme, which was nice... But that was not complete !!! I had the visual feeling, but no sound... Quite frustrating. Even more frustrating to see that someone published on the Web a Sonic Sound Set ! A mistake had to be repaired, I did not want to let this blue spiky thing embrace the Macintosh world without reacting.
But now, for your great pleasure, I am very happy to introduce the first (and only) Super Mario World Sound Set for Mac OS 8.5 !
Designed thanks to Chris Gervais' Sound Set Constructor (at this time in alpha version), this Sound Set will make you remember how good Super Mario World is, and make you feel as in the video game. However, take care if other people are working around you, as it may not sound melodious but noisy, especially if they don't like Super Mario (how can they ?) ...
Added new sounds for buttons, radio buttons, check boxes, tabs. Many of these sounds come from Yoshi's Island, aka Super Mario World II. Changed the "Copy done" sound (I want to keep the Drum sound for scrollbar dragging, this should come very soon...). Also added a custom icon, at last !
Ok, here we are ! Click on one of the following links to download the Super Mario World Sound Set :
First, you need Mac OS 8.5, obviously. Then, the only thing you have to do is to drag the file named "Super Mario World™ Sound Set" on your System Folder, which will automatically drive the file to the right sub-folder (folder "Sound Sets" from the "Apparence" folder).
Then, go in the "Apparence" Control Panel, click on the "Sound" tab, and choose "Super Mario World™ Sound Set" in the menu. That's it ! Now, close the control panel, and enjoy...
a) I don't like to pay sharewares, unless they are VERY useful (like the completely unmissable DragThing or Default Folder) ;
b) Building this Sound Set was just a pleasure for me (except for a weird bug that makes me pull my hair before I found a solution...).
BUT I don't want anyone to change anything in it and then diffuse it on any CD-Rom, on the Internet, etc. If you want to publish the Sound Set, please let me know, I will be very happy to help you in any way. If you want to see something changed, just send me an E-mail, and I'll try to see if I can help. And if you like it, then say it ! I also love to receive plenty of E-mails, so don't be scared, just send me a nice message, and you'll receive all my gratitude... And maybe some surprises !
Also, don't forget that the software is not complete without this "Oh, no ! Another Read Me !" file and the two URL link files for Mac Os 8.5, so please DON'T share it with your friends without giving them the COMPLETE package !
You will also notice that, as usual, this software is provided "as it is", and neither Apple, Chris Gervais, Nintendo or me would be charged if there was any problem due to the use (or misuse) of this software. That is called "self-protection" :-). There is no warranty, the only thing I can say is that it worked quite well on my machine (a StarMax 3000/200, if you wanna know everything)...
By the way, don't forget that Super Mario™ is a registered trademark from Nintendo... I didn't get any license from them to do it, and just hope I won't get into too many troubles for this ;-). As I am ready to discuss about it with Nintendo people, they should just send me an e-mail... We never know ;-)
